This page has been prepared to provide literature information and its summary to health professionals for Hamamelis Virginiana standardized extract, which is included in the content of Planto Baby cosmeceutical products.
This observational study includes minor skin problems, diaper region dermatitis, and regional inflammation of the skin in children aged 27 days to 11 years. Children used Hamamelis or dexpanthenol ointment with a 3 to 1 ratio. In each case, the signs and symptoms in the initial and post-treatment period were compared. At the end of the application, physicians and families were asked questions about efficiency and tolerance. A total of 231 children were treated with hamamelis and 78 with dexpanthenol. Hamamelis and dexpanthenol activity was observed in all three groups. The results of hamamelis and dexpanthenol were similar. In the hamamelis group, descriptive advantages were observed for many parameters. Both treatments were well tolerated. The tolerance of hamamelis was reported to be excellent and good (99.1% (physician) and 98.2% (family)). For dexpanthenol, these values were 97.4% and 92.3%. As a result, hamamelis ointment is an effective and safe treatment in children up to 11 years of age. The observed effects are similar to dexpanthenol.
